added more Indian almond leaves

The fish aren't doing well. I think I'm missing a couple of climbing perch, and what I thought was markings on one, looks like it's spreading to the other perch. Added more Indian almond leaves to hopefully help medicate the fish. I think I will add some salt too. And over the next few weeks I am going to add a few leaves every couple of days.

Added to my aquariums... For the main guppy tank, I put the leaves at the back so they arent too visible in the front.

The view from the back...

Close up...

The back aquarium is just a pile of stuff to see if I can encourage daphnia growth. I let the leaves just settle wherever they wish...

I wish we had some way to collect rain

More often than not, there is an abundance of water in Malaysia.

One normal downpour... those containers were just collecting some of the water from the porch awning. That water will go to the aquariums when I do a water change.

Imagine the volume running off the roof! When we do our next home renovation, I would really like to add some kind of rain harvesting system. A simple gutter feeding into a reservoir, and then the reservoir to the pond, etc.

Electric aquarium gravel vacuum

Bought this from Aliexpress...
My previous gravel vacuums would siphon the water and sludge out of the tank. This device allows to vacuum for a lot longer coz the output goes back into the tank

Since this is a low tech aquarium, I keep a lot of the sludge to feed the plants within the aquarium. I vacuum about once a week, maybe a bit less. The focus area is very small, about 2-3 sq inches in area.

All the gunk that gets sucked out goes to watering the vegetable garden or the compost.

Vallisneria

Vallisneria from my aquarium. You can have up to 25% of what's in my tank. Zero chemical fertilisers. Zero CO2. They will easily grow to more than 2 feet tall if you use proper lighting and commercial fertilisers from your aquarium shop.

RM0.20 per plant any size. Self collect. Whatsapp 011 6356 3789 to confirm before coming.
