Red Ceylon Spinach

I read about this vege some time back. There are 2 varieties, the red stem and the green one. It goes by many names... Climbing/Ceylon/Malabar/Vine/etc Spinach. The red is supposed to be better.
On a recent trip to Sri Lanka aka Ceylon, you would think it would be easy to find something called Ceylon Spinach. But sorry, no such plant available in the nurseries/shops we checked! Finally found the seeds locally here.
The packet didn't have any info, and I haven't seen the brand anywhere else, so just have to keep fingers crossed that the seeds will germinate.

More info here plus it's detailed nutritional values.

5 Jan 2020 update: They are alive!!

6 Jan 2020 update: Growing fast!
Nice feeling to see shoots of a different colour :)

7 Jan 2020 update: I need some sun...

9 Jan 2020 update: Moved home...
I placed them next to our front fence so that will be their trellis.

26 Jan 2020 update:
Growing well despite the dog jumping on it. Have to add some barriers...

17 Feb 2020 update:
First harvest of the biggest leaves...
Ceylon/Malabar Spinach on the left, Kale on the right.

And the underside...

Taste... the larger leaves raw were slightly bitter, but the smaller ones were nice. I stir fried them for about 15 seconds with some garlic in my homemade bacon fat. Yummy!
