Bentong ginger harvested

It has been 7 months since I planted a piece of ginger I bought from Bentong. The plant faired better than the Bentong ginger I bought from here in PJ Old Town. But it was still small compared to the regular market ginger. Here u can see the difference in height from another variety which I got from someone in the neighbourhood.

So I decide to harvest it and make room for a bigger species. This is all I got for 7 months in the ground...
You can see the earthworms. They love hanging out between the roots. And here is a clearer picture of the full harvest after an initial rinse with fish pond water. Not much at all...
Cleaned a little with a few more rinses and scrubs with dechlorinated water, to add to my ginger bug...
I removed a portion of the oldest looking pieces from the bug and replaced it with these new ones.
Because they were in the ground just an hour ago, and I took care to wash them in dechlorinated water, there will be a higher percentage of wild yeast on them. This is a bonus for the bug. The spent ginger went into some ginger tea, and was soft enough to eat after drinking the tea.
