New snail

 Spotted this tiny guy on my kangkung. 

As usual most pest end up in the fish pond as snacks.

Corn's smaller roots appearing

The giant roots have sprouted smaller ones.

The tip of my scissors at the bottom is a good reference as to how small that fellow is!!

It would make a nice snack for my climbing perch if I could catch it.

Time to cut my losses on one of my Bentong ginger

 This is plant #2... supposedly Bentong ginger that I bought a PJ Old Town. It struggled to grow right from the start. The shoots and leaves were small, and growth rate was really slow. Then maybe due to too much water, sections of it started to die out. I finally decided to uproot it and use whatever there for my ginger bug.

Just 2 sections, one dying, one still healthy. After washing...

The dying section on the bottom is clear to see. the shoots and leaves all gone, hardly any roots. 

Useable bits (on the plastic lid) from the dead section...

And the healthy part...

I cut it down to smaller sections to make it easier to scrub with a firm toothbrush, and wash with dechlorinated water. 

I removed some spent ginger from the bug.

I'm holding the older spent ginger which has lost its yellow colour. The bits on the spoon still have some life in them. I'll use that old stuff in some ginger tea.

Added the fresh ginger to the bug.

cat5 cables

I have a heap of category 5 network cables that are obsolete. Not as bendable as the other cables but still put to good use in the garden.

Better than ending up in a landfill.
